So far, no new sightings of the mangy aggressor I have nicknamed “Diablo.” His compatriot, the less-figuratively-named “Orange Cat,” has made several appearances but does not seem intent on provoking a reaction. He is, by all accounts, most certainly gathering intelligence.

N. and I have taken up the habit of walking the dog while holding a long, thin reed. Beware, ye felines.

Today, I had my first personal training session at the apartment complex’s gym with the very aptly-named Gideon (meanings: “Destroyer,” “Mighty Warrior,”  “Feller (of Trees)”). Whilst in the throes of excruciating crunches (note to self: don’t take year-long hiatuses from the gym), I met an Ecuadorean woman who also lives in the apartment complex. She spoke very little English, but I managed to cobble together enough broken Spanish to talk with her.

It took moving to East Africa to get me back on a treadmill and speaking Spanish. Huh?
